Google Business is not your website

The listing gets you found. The site takes the job. Why a complete Google profile still leaves bookings in DMs — and what to put on the URL you own.

Google Business · Local SEO · Small business · Origin

A complete Google Business Profile is table stakes. It is also not a company website. The listing is a sign on the road. The site is the shop. Operators confuse them because the listing is free and the site has an invoice.

We see the same pattern in Albuquerque and everywhere else: five stars, hours that look right, and a website button that opens Instagram. The job never leaves the phone.

What the listing is good at

Maps. Hours. A call button. Reviews. Directions. Keep it accurate. Reply to reviews with facts, not a fight. That work is yours. We will not sell you a “GBP management package” that posts stock photos of tacos.

What only the site can do

Policies. A booking that hits a calendar. Checkout in USD with a refund page Stripe will open. A page you own when Google changes the layout again. Origin exists for that: a conversion site, not a duplicate of the listing.

The mismatch that costs the week

Different phone numbers. Hours that do not match. A “Book” button that opens a third app the owner never opens. Fix those three before you buy ads.

The steps — do these in order

  1. 01

    Make the listing true

Hours, phone, categories, photos of the actual room. No stock.

  2. 02

Match name, address and phone to the site footer

If they disagree, Google trusts neither.

  3. 03

Put a URL that takes the work

Booking, form, or checkout — not a Linktree.

  4. 04

Answer the ten questions already in the reviews

Those sentences belong on the site, not only in a reply.

  5. 05

Stop paying for a second profile tool

If the work is still in DMs, the listing did its job. The site did not.

If this is the work you need, write. You get a written scope, a price in USD, and a site or product you own. Nothing is billed before you approve it.
